For vaccination of healthy cows and heifers prior to breeeding as an aid in the prevention of diseases caused by IBR, BVD 1 & 2, PI3, BRSV, Vibrio & the 5 most common strains of Lepto. Zoetis Bovi-Shield Gold FP 5 VL5 Cattle Vaccine is for use in healthy cows and heifers prior to breeding to prevent calves from becoming infected by BVD Types 1 and 2. This product is also used as an aid in preventing abortions caused by IBR; BVD Type 2 testicular infection; respiratory disease caused by IBR, BVD Types 1 and 2; PI3; BRSV; disease caused by Campylobacter fetus and 5 strains of Leptospirosis.

A 12-month immunity has been demonstrated against IBR-induced abortion and persistently infected calves caused by BVD Types 1 and 2.

This vaccine may be given to pregnant cattle provided they were vaccinated according to label instructions in the past 12 months.

SPECIFICATIONS

To help ensure safety in pregnant cattle, heifers must receive at least 2 doses of any Bovi-Shield Gold FP or PregGuard GOLD FP product with the second dose administered 30 days prior to breeding.

Do not vaccinate calves under the age of 6 months. Do not use in calves nursing pregnant dams, unless their dam was previously vaccinated in the past 12 months.

Do not use in pregnant cows (abortion can result) unless they were vaccinated, according to the label directions, with any Bovi-Shield Gold FP or PregGuard Gold FP vaccine with the past 12 months.

FP (Fetal Protection) guarantee: Zoetis guarantees that no calves will be born persistently infected (PI) with BVD and guarantees against IBR abortions provided that the vaccine was administered according to label directions.

Store between 2 and 7 °C. Prolonged exposure to higher temperatures and/or direct sunlight may adversely affect potency. Do not freeze.

INSTRUCTIONS

General directions: Vaccination of healthy cattle is recommended. Aseptically rehydrate the freeze-dried vaccine with the liquid bacterin provided, shake well, and administer 2 ml intramuscularly to breeding cows and heifers 1 month prior to breeding. In accordance with Beef Quality Assurance guidelines, this product should be administered in the muscular region of the neck.

Primary vaccination: Administer a single 2-ml dose to all breeding cows and heifers approximately 1 month prior to breeding or being added to the herd, followed 3 to 4 weeks later by a single dose of vibrio/leptoferm-5.

Revaccination: Annual revaccination with a single dose of Bovi-Shield Gold FP 5 VL5 is recommended. Good animal husbandry and herd health management practices should be employed.
